WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO: THE STORY BEHIND "NO HUMAN IS USELESS"
Our Founder William Plange believes that no human is useless because He lived it. His journey from depression and joblessness to discovering purpose in the most unlikely place—deep within a forest in Ghana—taught him that even the darkest moments can light the path to our greatest breakthroughs.
Years ago, He found Himself in a place where hope seemed like a distant memory. Jobless, mocked by friends, and burdened by the weight of failure, He spiraled into depression. The city, once full of promise, became suffocating. A hurtful comment from someone close to him pushed him to the edge, and with nothing left to lose, He made a radical decision: He left it all behind and moved into the forest.
The forest was harsh—hours of walking to the farm, drinking from murky streams, and living without electricity. But in the discomfort, He found clarity. He connected with nature, and more importantly, He reconnected with himself. What was meant to break him became his salvation. He found peace, purpose, and a deeper understanding of life. That’s when He realized: not all discomfort is meant to destroy us. Some discomfort shapes us, molds us into who we’re meant to be.
That’s when "No Human Is Useless" was born—a movement, a mission, and eventually a memoir. He knew his story wasn’t just his. There are countless young people facing the same battles he fought—joblessness, depression, self-doubt. He sees it in the youth today, struggling to find their footing, feeling lost and purposeless. But He stand as living proof that no matter how low you fall, you can rise. And not just rise, but soar.
For him, writing "No Human Is Useless" wasn’t just about telling his story; it was about giving others the strength to face their own. He wanted to empower people, to show them that their struggles don’t define them, but how they rise from them does. Winning the Caribbean Global Award in the UK for my efforts in helping others recover from depression wasn’t the end, it was a new beginning. It fueled his desire to keep sharing his story, to continue empowering others to find their purpose, no matter how lost they feel.
This is why we do what we do—to remind the world that every human being has value, every story matters, and no matter how dark the road may seem, there’s always light ahead. We all have a purpose, and sometimes, it’s in the most uncomfortable places that we find it.
